I would like to see map nominations or something like that. choose what comes up on the end-game map vote. would also like to have the ability to preview the players in whatever match you're queued for and reject it if you don't like them sucks to be pulled out of a decent game for one filled with bots just because you were searching for a better map and bring back sprays in official servers. pussies can disable them.

I worry that your proposal for a new community server browser would kill a lot of servers running custom maps, given that they can only be shown if you actually search for them in the search bar.
I would imagine if you have no maps selected it would show everything like it does now. But that's a good point.

Give players a free item drop for volunteering for autobalance and people would be 100% more likely to do it. The problem always has been that no one cares about their rank because it doesn't actually do anything. Honestly almost all the items that drop are close to worthless nowadays thanks to the idle farms, it really wouldn't effect valve's bottom line to actually properly incentivize players.
The thing i would have a problem with is the crafting system as a whole. Most weapons require a reclaimed metal + a weapon, meaning that on average you need to sacrifice SEVEN WEAPONS to create a SINGLE weapon. And sometimes its 2 weapons, or 2 reclaimed metal, meaning that it can sometimes cost EIGHT TO THIRTEEN WEAPONS to make ONE. And to make the Mantreads, it takes a REFINED metal, meaning you need to sacrifice NINETEEN WEAPONS to make the Mantreads. Aside from random drops and some achievements, the only other way to get weapons is to buy them, which screws over F2Ps even more. TL;DR: Crafting system sucks

10:18 Gabber the RUclips will be pissed to hear this for sure, oh well. He's a diehard boomer of TF2, doesn't like things getting necessary (maybe a bit overdone) nerfs like the sandman or the amby. What I think needs to happen is.........remove random crits. That's the only thing I hate as much as the bots right now.
A TRUE TF2 boomer would be against Quickplay too.
A heavy update
I'd want bug fixes, optimizations, and file reductions (just because better compression methods have been developed sense 07) first and foremost. While other things such as updating the server browser could be helpful, I don't think it's really *needed* as fast as other fixes. As for comp. It was a good experiment but the community's ver of it vs the "official" ver of it are just incompatible and TF2 was never built to be comp. I like my casual shooter with the randomness in it, I don't want to sweat every game when I come home from work or just want to play with my friends on the weekend. RBS is fine, Random Crits is fine. If you want to not deal with that stuff, go to a community server that caters to that. That'st he best part about TF2 is that *YOU* can play how *YOU* want and it doesn't impact the rest of the players. MYM was a mistake. Undo pretty much all the changes to that, let comp players play by their own rules on their own servers, not forcing those rules onto the majoury of the player base.
We shouldn't have a quickplay matchmaking, we should kill matchmaking in general and update the server browser.
For me personally? Proper controller support and for voice chat to not be stuck in push to talk. Because I play controller, hence why push to talk on a keyboard isn't exactly convenient. Those are the ones that I am personally more interested in and more likely to come back for if these changes are greenlit. Although honestly? I'd rather that Valve unfucks the game present issues and at least puts out the Heavy Update at some point over personal grievances. The game is playable enough as it is, but it's not the best optimised for a controller either, or I feel it could be a little better than it is presently. A change I would also personally be in favour for, but can wager how it could potentially fuck things up is occasionally handing out free crate keys. My reasoning is only because I have so many crates now, and none of them have been opened, because I can't be fucked to pay money for a key to open a loot box. I don't understand the economy so I can't speak about how this might change it, but I can hazard a guess that someone who does know better will just tell me it's a bad change and I'm stupid for wanting that. But the fuck else am I doing with these creates then? Because I don't want to spend more on a game I've already bought. (It wasn't F2P back then.) Oh yeah, speaking of bots, last thing I'll add, perhaps it MIGHT be a good idea to make the game require to be purchased again, but at a small price, like.. Five bucks? No more than that. It's a ballache, but the game being F2P isn't working out so great in regards to the bot problem. It would suck for the F2P players, but I would argue that requiring the game to be purchased would perhaps be more effective in deterring bots, or at least making it more costly to persist in using them. This is just a thought that might have some merit honestly, although I'll admit it's not going to be a popular change for some. It's cool that the game is free, but I'd rather just buy it if it means that bots are much less likely to keep showing up. Unfortunately, unless Valve proves to do otherwise, I don't see them doing any of that. But hey, a banwave for bots is better than doing nothing. It's a start.
Some major code rework. TF2 is extremely poorly coded, being made not by professional devs but by modders, and that makes it hard to maintain and scares people off working on it. Modernize its coding and working on TF2 will be far more enjoyable.

First off, thank you valve for banning bots, secondly the next worst thing about TF2 is the balancing issues.
You say that like they can't just implement quickplay with the current casual queueing system... You stll have your inventory management, your ability to queue for individual gamemodes and maps within those gamemodes, and your leveling system, except you are searching across community servers instead.
You mean like just letting matchmaking bring you to community servers? You could, I suppose. But I think you'd need some pretty strict restrictions to keep them in line with official servers.

I'm not sure how well getting a random unlocked cosmetic crate after every 50 rank ups would be received in the market. They'd have to be untradable in order to not have an overflow in the market. Plus, there's also a major problem in MvM where you can just rejoin a lobby you were kicked from if you queue for that mission again. It's a pain to deal with when there's a guy who's not playing good or being nice and they just keep on joining.
If they're achievement items they would presumably be non-tradable.
Or if you dont like penalties for kicking. they could flag someone so a guy can investigate and ban them.

The reason they can't add a kick penalty is simple. People don't understand that infinite free accounts means these functions don't stop bots and only exist to potentially punish players. That is why F2P games have bot problems and cheater issues. Infinite accounts, infinite testing, infinite refining, all while being able to be paid to do it by spiteful and hateful people. Even a simple 1$ entry fee to TF2 would change this, imagine 5$ a bot account. To host 1000 bots would cost 5000$, yet this comes at the cost of the community. That is the sad reality of bots. The community loses.
Honestly valve just needs to add a functional anti cheat bc vac is shit if we could get a team working on tf2 that would be great updates would be great but a functional anti cheat is all I’m asking for
hypothesizing about class limits in the competitive gamemode, finding a balance between Valve's idea of "Team Fortress 2" and the community's, means very little when Valve implements weapons that the community bans. if no agreement can be reached with that, class limits will never matter anyways

Bot hosters can just get more bots if there is a limit, so I guess it could help but not really
dealing with groups of 6 cheaters is already so hard to deal with as is, pls dont allow partys to fill up 12 slots :(
Sniper callout.
I think the biggest issue with balancing is when a round starts with all pros on one side and all noobs on the other by pure coincidience, instead may I suggest: balancing the teams by total levels?
tf2 and its community is like the survivors in a zombie apocalypse comedy movie.
all it takes is the bot hosters to buy an extra large wave of bots for humans to be perpetually stuck out. every human on cooldown is another human not fighting against the bots, and the less humans fighting and kicking the bots, the more humans being kicked and put on cooldown. imo the cooldown idea would only be reasonable if valve keeps up on banning the bots, but if valve does that we kind of dont need the matchmaking cooldown anyways. just my opinion
Some of tf2's menus (Achievements, Settings, Create a Server, ...) still have the hl2 design and i think it would be nice for them to look a little more tf2-ish. Also the settings and adv. settings should be in one menu.
My personal wishlist: Keep matchmaking for casual and comp ( for the latter maybe add map options and team size options and let players pre pick classes from the lobby itself) and go back to quickplay for community servers. When you level up a tier in casual or comp you can choose 1 out of 3 possible rewards of different value categories. You could either get a free low value item from every tier level level up or maybe pick to grind towards a rarer more expensive item for maybe every 8 tiers? When players leave mid game their characters become computer controlled like in comp (or in Left 4 dead 2) so the team dont get a automatic number distadvantage. Probably wont happen since it would require valve to map ai nodes for each map but hey they could just type nav_generate in console a bunch of times for a sloppy node and even that would be better than nothing. Also it would be cool if they made it easier to host your own local servers with custom settings, all your worksop maps and made it easier to invite friends directly to you. Private hosting is the perfect middle ground of the comfort of matchmaking and the options of community servers. (it would also help future proof the game if valve decides to shut it down or if your favorite main community server lose popularity). It would let you enjoy the game with just your friends if waiting for matchmaking takes too long or if community servers has players that stalk you across different servers.
You there a thing called Survivor Bias? Just because it in the game doesnt mean it should be in. Also i think if Valve could of did the Matchmaking changes they would of.
